Uttarakhand is an incredibly beautiful state blessed with majestic hills, salubrious climate, perennial rivers, exotic valleys of flowers, dense forests, diverse flora & fauna and unpretentious & hospitable people. It is also lovingly called Devbhumi as it boasts of a number of revered temples and places that are closely associated with the Hindu mythology and spirituality seems to be in the air of the state. Rishikesh is considered as the “Yoga Capital” of the world and the those who are interested can also indulge in a host of adventure sports activities like Trekking, Mountaineering, Skiing, Biking, White Water River Rafting, Rock Climbing etc.
With such an astounding diversity in its tourist attractions, Uttarakhand has all what it takes to be the top tourist destination of India but unfortunately the reality is far from it. Uttarakhand today is clearly lagging behind the other hill states in tapping its true potential to become a leading Tourist destination and the fact remains that neither the government nor the people of the state are getting the true socio-economic benefits that Tourism usually brings with it. So, what is it that can be done for the growth and promotion of tourism in the state that can give Uttarakhand its rightful place amongst the Tourist Hotspot of the country without causing any harm to its delicate ecosystem. To find the answer to this glaring question, “UTPA” is born.
“Uttrakhand Tourism Professionals Association” (UTPA), is an association of the tourism professionals from the state of Uttarakhand who aspires to see their home state get its due and be established as a popular tourist destination with sustainable development benefiting more and more the people of the state. UTPA’s aim is not to criticize anyone for the poor promotion of tourism in the state but as an association, it’s objective is to collaborate with all the stakeholders, both government and private, and to work in tandem with them to then offer suggestions to the state government in formulating effective policies regarding Tourism. The members of UTPA are from the different branches of the hospitality industry (Entrepreneurs, Guides, Travel Consultants, Hotelier's etc.) and UTPA is committed to use their experience & expertise in their specific roles alongwith their love & passion for their home state to generate ideas that can bring positive change in the way Tourism is promoted in Uttarakhand.
